previously co-hosted the event with other countries on the Indian subcontinent
in 1987, 1996, and 2011.
The final will take place on November 19, 2023, at
the Narendra Modi Stadium. The two semifinals will be held in Mumbai and
Kolkata.

The World Cup was originally scheduled to take place
from February 9 to March 26, 2023. However, it was reported in July 2020 that
the tournament would be relocated to October and November 2020 due to the
disruption of the qualification timetable caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
ESPNcricinfo reported in March 2023 that the event would be held from October 5
to November 19, 2023. On June 27, the ICC announced the tournament schedule.
After the Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI) refused to send its squad to the 2023 Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket
Board (PCB) vowed to boycott the World Cup. The Asian Cricket Council declared
on June 15, 2023, that the 2023 Asia Cup will be hosted in a hybrid model as
requested by the PCB. However, prior to the introduction of the 2023 Asia Cup
schedule, previous PCB chairman Najam Sethi voiced his hesitation to play any
group league matches at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad other than the
knockout matches, subject to approval from the Government of Pakistan. He also
wanted all of their games to be played in Bengaluru, Chennai, or Kolkata.
