The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has the highest percentage of people who identify as Muslims at 91%, followed by Central Asia at 89 percent, Southeast Asia at 40%, South Asia at 31%, Sub-Saharan Africa at 30%, Asia-Oceania at 25%, Europe at about 6%, and the Americas at 1%.

The largest Muslim-majority nation, Indonesia, has a population of about 13 percent Muslims. The largest Muslim-populated region in the world, South Asia, has a population of about 31 percent Muslims, followed by the Middle East and North Africa, which has a population of about 20 percent Muslims, and West and Sub-Saharan Africa, which has a population of about 15 percent each. Muslims are the overwhelming majority in Central Asia, the majority in the Caucasus, and widespread in Southeast Asia.
